Wishing you the Best
As a symbol of our shared commitment to the planet, QOS Energy and its client community are taking a stand and supporting the restoration of endangered forests in Nicaragua.
We have one planet and its resources are limited, so let’s make change happen!
As the seeds of the new year begin to sprout, the numerous challenges caused by climate change call for action. Working together to restore our native forests – nature’s most ingenious carbon capture technology – is key to mitigating climate change, and enhancing the resilience of life on earth while supporting rural communities.
To this end, QOS Energy and its client community are supporting a reforestation action in Nicaragua called the Limay CommunityTree Project. This program enables participating small-scale family farms to reforest and maintain under-utilized portions of their land to native conditions and receive payments for ecosystem services.
Through better land-use management and more sustainable use of forest resources, the project increases the forest cover of the nearby watershed and improves the quality of life of Nicaraguan farmers. The restored ecosystem also captures CO2 and provides habitat for native species.
The project makes sure to address the causes of deforestation, ensures direct, ongoing community involvement, and provides financial benefits for participants throughout the project. Began in 2008, the project received its Plan Vivo certification early 2011. Since 2008, over 400 participating farmers have planted more than 1,600,000 trees. To date, the project has offset nearly 1 billion kg of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to the emissions of over 200,000 passenger cars in a year.
To launch this initiative, QOS Energy has partnered with Tree-Nation, a worldwide platform which aims to fight climate change by managing reforestation projects around the world. Tree-Nation gathers and coordinates reforestation initiatives in a unique platform, enabling every citizen, company and planter to take action. Everytime a new tree is planted, CO2 offset are calculated based on the tree species planted.
This project helps to protect the forests and watershed, to preserve biodiversity and improve local livelihood.
On this journey, let’s grow together.
